Question 60 // Can An Emergency Hospital For Wild Animals Help Clarify Your Life Mission? (feat. Phil Jenni)

Phil Jenni is the Executive Director for the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center Of Minnesota, a non-profit organization and veterinary clinic for wild animals located IN THE METRO!
I originally sat down with Phil after I saw a facebook post that was shared by my friend Mike Michael (Question #35) to talk about the organization and to learn more about the fascinating work they’re doing at WRCMN, but as soon as we started talking, I realized I had far more to learn from Phil outside of just wildlife.
How did a Tudor historian with a background in Elizabethan Expansion end up becoming an Executive Director of this non-profit? Why does he think that if we can’t find enough people to support what we do in life, we SHOULD be out of business? And why do I need to take the time to clarify my “elevator mission”?
Join me as I sit down to answer these questions and more.

Let’s Talk About “Risk”

I believe at my core that life expands and contracts with out willingness to assume risk. The problem is… I’m not sure if I really understood, before now, what the true risk was. Let’s talk about it.

Question 59 // When’s Your ‘Book Baby’ Due? (feat. Alicia Eler)

Alicia Eler is the Star Tribune's visual art critic/arts reporter who’s writing can be found in Glamour, the Guardian, CNN, Hyperallergic, Art21 Magazine, LA Weekly, and Aperture. She’s also the author of the book “The Selfie Generation” (Skyhorse Publishing), which has been reviewed in the New York Times, WIRED Magazine and the Chicago Tribune.

We originally were going to sit down to talk about her new book, but ended up having a fascinating conversation about art, writing, setting your intention, meditation, and why Netflix may be a helpful aid in learning a new language.
Recording Location: Some coffee shop in South Minneapolis…

Question 58 // How Do You Manage Your Dreams? (feat. Lacey Guck)

What would you do if someone gave you 100 MILLION dollars TODAY? Maybe you already have a game plan for your future and every penny of it would be automatically allocated into your existing strategy within moments of it hitting your bank account. Or... maybe you’re like me and sitting down to dream up a list of what your life would look like in that scenario is as foreign as someone asking you what you’d do if you could fly. What would happen if you had a friend who sat down with you over coffee and, not only gave you permission to dream, but walked you through an outline of how to do it in a way that encompassed the most important categories of your life? (Adventure, Physical, Emotional, Intellectual, Spiritual, Material, Financial, Creativity, Legacy, Character, and Professional) Lacey Guck is a singer songwriter in Minneapolis who did just that with me and let me tell you... things got personal. Grab a pen and paper and join us as she walks us through an exercise that may change your the way you look at the future.
Recording Location: Dogwood Coffee, Northeast Minneapolis
